Eid-al-Adha (Islam)
Eid al-Adha is the latter of the two official holidays which are celebrated within Islam (the other being Eid al-Fitr). It honours the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son Ismail (Ishmael) as an act of obedience to Allah's command. The festival also marks the end of the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca. Many Muslims make a special effort to wear new clothes, attend a prayer service in a mosque and listen to a sermon.

This day is celebrated to promote the positive values of Humanism.

On June 22, 1948 HMT Empire Windrush arrived at Tilbury docks, carrying the first immigrants from the Caribbean. The ship and its passengers have a symbolic status as the start of the Windrush Generation.

the Festival of Chariots. Ratha Yatra is celebrated all over the world, but the most famous and largest celebrations take place in Puri, India. The celebrations are held at the Jagannath Temple in Puri. A festival will be held on the 10th August in Cardiff to celebrate.

Asalha Puja (Buddhism)
a festival to remember the Buddha's first sermon, where he learned about the Middle Way, the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path.

Birthday of Haile Selassie (Rastafarian)
One of the holiest days of the Rastafarian year. It is celebrated with Nyahbinghi drumming, hymns and prayers.
